To the south of Spain, bathed by the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, is the city of Benidorm.
What used to be a humble fishing village, has become one of the most popular and cosmopolitan tourist destinations in Spain, welcoming millions of holidaymakers every year. This is mainly due to the fact that, in Benidorm you can find the perfect combination for your dream holidays: magnificent beaches and an enviable climate almost all year round.
If you are looking for the perfect place to enjoy the blessings of nature, this might be the destination for you. Below, I will tell you about its best beaches.
Playa de Poniente:
Poniente is one of the city’s quietest urban beaches. With its wide swathe of sand and almost 3 kilometres length, it is one of the best places to go to spend a pleasant time.
This beach has all the facilities that you would expect of a beach of this type, showers, bathrooms, parasol rental and sun loungers. There are also a wide variety of bars and restaurants available on its promenade. Poniente is easily accessible from the street and is perfect for people with reduced mobility. You will also find shops offering rental services for various entertainment equipment to help visitors enjoy themselves.
An interesting fact about Playa de Poniente is that, thanks to its location, in both winter and summer, you can enjoy magnificent sunsets there well into the evening.
Cala Tío Ximo:
As I have already mentioned, Benidorm is a cosmopolitan city, known for welcoming millions of visitors every year. If you want a break from this hustle and bustle, Cala Tío Ximo is the perfect place to go.
This small beach is the perfect destination for nature lovers. Located within the Sierra Helada Nature Park, Cala Tío Ximo is a landscape of unparalleled beauty, dominated by the crystal-clear, deep blue waters and surrounded by cliffs.
However, this beach is not easily accessible and bear in mind that it does not have the same services as an urban beach, although there is a lifeguard during the summer season.
Playa de Levante:
Playa de Levante is one of Benidorm’s most popular beaches and offers 2 kilometres long and 50 metres wide of golden sand.
This beach has clear, shallow waters and is the perfect place to spend a family day out, where children can play safely.
Playa de Levante is surrounded by lots of buildings, making it a convenient beach to visit. It also has all the conditions necessary for people with reduced mobility to feel at ease.
Like all beaches of this type, Playa de Levante has showers, bathrooms and other facilities to guarantee a magnificent visit.
Playa de Mal Pas:
Playa de Mal Pas is another of Benidorm’s urban beaches. Although it is not as long as Levante or Poniente, this beach offers the best conditions for visitors to enjoy themselves.
The beach has very easy access since it is close to the city centre and can be reached easily by foot. Its calm, shallow, crystal-clear waters call you to enjoy them and thanks to their location, they have an excellent seabed, perfect for those who like diving.
However, if you enjoy sports like diving or snorkelling but don’t have any experience, don’t worry because there are various facilities nearby where you can receive some training and all the necessary equipment.
Even though it is an urban beach it is not very busy, so if you want to relax without going too far from the city, Playa de Mal Pas is the perfect choice.
Cala La Almadrava:
This beach is distinctive because of its fine sand and rock formation and it has an incredibly beautiful seabed, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy snorkelling and diving.
During high season, there are lifeguard services, as well as parasols and sun loungers. However, since it is far from the city, access is a bit inconvenient.
Benidorm is undoubtedly a perfect destination to enjoy holidays that you will never forget. If you want to relax in a natural environment, surrounded by the sea, Benidorm offers beaches for all tastes, guaranteeing to exceed all your expectations.
